370 AFP Staff Infected With COVID-19, Continues To Rise

370 AFP STAFF – Around 370 personnel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines have been infected with COVID-19 and still continues to increase.

This was from a statement by the AFP itself, according to a report from Manila Bulletin.

“The AFP has recorded an upward trend in the number of active, recorded, and cleared cases,” 

Major Gen. Edgard Arevalo, spokesperson of the Atmed Forces of the Philippines

Among the said confirmed case were two-hundred and twenty-one (221) active cases, 22 recoveries, 126 cleared and allowed to return to their homes, and one fatality, as of Thursday.

Based on the report, he said fatality is only identified by Arevalo as a civilian human resource. The spokesperson said that the AFP is implementing established health protocols vigorously.

“These include contact tracing, regular building and facility disinfections, and stringent screening measures relative to the entry and exit of personnel and visitors in the course of official businesses,” 

“We will ensure that members of the AFP are physically fit and healthy to continue performing its mission as the country’s dependable force to address national security issues and even the pandemic,” 

Arevalo added that he was tested negative for the virus after he was exposed to an employee of Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, wherein both the secretary and staff were confirmed positive.
