New ABS-CBN license denied and Vice Ganda has a statement about this.
VICE GANDA – ABS-CBN artist, comedian, and host Vice Ganda finally speaks after his network was not able to have a franchise renewal.
70 “Yeses” versus 11 “Nos”. These numbers are clear indications that the ABS-CBN has officially shut down. Their franchise renewal application will not be brought to be discussed on the plenary because Philippine Congress has killed the network after casting their votes.
The House Committee ultimately junked the network’s renewal application and it broke many hearts. Aside from loss of news and entertainment to many of its loyal viewers, more than 11,000 of their employees just lost their job in this time of pandemic. Speaker Allan Cayetano says to respect the decision as the members have accordingly gave “serious considerations” before they have made their vote.
And one of the biggest stars of the network, Vice Ganda, has finally broken his silence about the matter. The artist was stunned and lost for words where all that he was able to say is that what they are fighting for is for the people. He couldn’t be any sadder to the network which he already considered as his home.
He accordingly joined the caravan yesterday to support the franchise renewal. He stressed that it was all not just about the network and the artist. It was about everyone. He said in an interview, “Ang ABS-CBN, ang serbisyong ibinigay niya ay naging malaking bahagi ng araw-araw na buhay ng mga Pilipino. Napakalaking bahagi.”
Because of the network and the show Its Showtime, Vice Ganda became the big star that he is today. He is among the personalities people look up to when it comes to comedy and acting.
