Father Goes Begging for Help on the Street to Feed Family Touched Netizens’ Heart

A poor father who goes begging on the street using a big poster to feed family amid health crisis went viral and touched netizens’ heart.

Community quarantines or lockdowns due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) have significantly affected ordinary people who rely solely on their income or their jobs. Once again, one of the traits of Filipinos is tested — firmness and resourcefulness amid the crisis.

A poor father who begs for help on the street has caught the attention of many netizens after a concerned netizen named Bombee Duerme a photo of him. He shows a poor father holding a sign on one of the streets in Libis, Quezon City.

The man was identified as Mang Efren holding a poster that he wrote himself. In the poster written, he asks for help and support for his six children and wife who is PWD or person with a disability.

He has been unemployed for more than three months because of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ). In order to feed his family, he allegedly sold personal things to supplement their daily meal.

The photo of him caught the attention and touched the feelings of many netizens. Many of them have expressed a desire to help.

Luckily for him, there are netizens who are in urge to help him. One of them was a netizen named Fhelma Pajarillo who did not hesitate to find Mang Efren and reach out for a little help for his family.

Fhelma stated in her Facebook post, “Finally! Even though we were still late at night. I gasped in tears as Dad Efren spoke. I prevented you from crying, my heart was so torn as to make fun of you six times when they were sleeping so much.”
