Statement of ABS-CBN President Carlo Katigbak Following Franchise Denial

ABS-CBN President Carlo Katigbak issued a statement following the House Committee junking the network’s franchise bid.

A few minutes ago, the House Franchise Committee voted regarding the franchise of the ABS-CBN network. It’s been two (2) months now since the network’s broadcasting operation is on off-air.

In the first quarter of 2020, the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released a Cease and Desist Order against the network. It is due to its expired franchise.

A lot of celebrities and ordinary citizens were saddened by what is happening. Many asked the government to give the network another chance.

Today, the House Franchise Committee decided on the fate of the ABS-CBN network’s franchise. It denied the network of a new broadcasting franchise.

A lot of people are emotional following the decision of the House Committee. Employees of the Kapamilya network cried and hugged each other upon knowing the verdict of the lawmakers.

Recently, ABS-CBN President Carlo Katigbak released a statement following the denial of a new franchise for the ABS-CBN network. In his statement, he admitted that they are extremely hurt by the Committee’s decision.

Meanwhile, they are thankful to the Committee for being given the chance to express their side. The ABS-CBN President also expressed their gratitude to everyone who showed support to the network.

  1. 2 start w/, am an abs-cbn subscriber but denial’s verdict was substantiated w/ authenticated dox, thus, let us abide w/ d law. let’s not equate franchise issue w/ press curtailment
