A certain voting result regarding ABS-CBN franchise renewal case has been circulating online.
ABS-CBN FRANCHISE – A famous newspaper claimed and released voting result over the ABS-CBN franchise renewal case where majority voted “No”.
The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) cease and desist order issued last May 2020 has forced the ABS-CBN network to stop its broadcasting operations and ultimately, shut down. This is because their 25-year legislative franchise has expired and now, they have been struggling to have a renewal due to numerous issues thrown against them.
Today is the last day and officials are about to vote and through their votes, the fate of the biggest media network in the country will unfold. However, the Manila Times has reported and released some documents where the result of the final voting has been indicated. Is the network doomed? The result showed that the majority has voted “No”.
25 lawmakers were in favor for the renewal of the network, however, those who voted for “No” outnumbered those who voted for “Yes” – a total of 57 lawmakers opposed the renewal as per the document obtained by the Manila Times. Meanwhile, there were 10 who are unsure of their decision.
There were 12 hearings that have happened which tackled all the issues, violations, and controversies of the network. The Joint Committee on Legislative Franchises and on Good Government and Public Accountability ended the hearings on Monday, July 6.

We do not want the evil powers to prevail over this issue…I ask that God give light to the darkness that surrounds our country right now. I just can’t see the Philippines without ABS-CBN. However, if it is God’s will for ABS to shut down temporarily, may this ultimate sacrifice redound to the benefit of the common good. I would like to believe that even a seemingly sinister plan can bring out some good. May we see the hands of God in our current situation…leading us to a better tomorrow.
