Navotas City Police To File Charges vs Family Who Test Positive for COVID-19 After Having a Party Amid Community Quarantine

METRO MANILA – The family who had a party amid the community quarantine test positive for COVID-19 and now facing charges.

Mayor Toby Tiangco reported that some residents in H. Mornoy Street in Barangay Navotas West violated the quarantine protocols after attending a party on May 14, 2020. The area was still under an enhanced community quarantine during that time.

Six residents who have attended the birthday party test positive for the coronavirus disease. The authorities placed the street under lockdown from June 11-24, 2020 due to 14 cases of COVID-19 in the area.

“The family’s utter disregard of safety regulations endangered their lives and all those living at H. Monroy. Their reckless act thwarted our efforts to prevent further transmission of COVID-19 and keep our people safe,” Tiangco said.

Navotas City Police would also file charges against the family for defying the quarantine guidelines.

Even if we don’t catch you in the act, we will file criminal charges against you if investigation showed you flouted the quarantine order,” Tiangco added.

The Department of Health reported that the total COVID-19 cases have 46,333 with 2,099 new infections as of today (July 7, 2020).
