Message of Ces Drilon on Shutting Down of ABS-CBN News Following NTC Order

CES DRILON – The ABS-CBN News reporter broke her silence on the shutting down of the broadcasting operation of the Kapamilya network.

It has been two (2) months now since the broadcasting operation of the ABS-CBN News went off-air. It was after the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) released an order against the network.

The said NTC order is over the expired franchise of the network. It gained different reactions from the people.

Currently, the franchise of the ABS-CBN network has yet to be renewed or a new franchise was yet to be given to them. Hearings are ongoing and several Kapamilya artists have expressed their side on the issue.

Recently, Ces Drilon, a reporter of ABS-CBN News, broke her silence to the shutting down of the broadcasting operation of the network. She posted a message on social media.

According to Ces, it is the job of journalists like her to “hold the powerful accountable”. She stressed that their job is not easy and no administration was happy about it from Macapagal to Marcos to Aquino to Ramos to Estrada to Arroyo to Aquino and to Duterte.

Ces Drilon cited that only the Marcos and the Duterte administrations shut the ABS-CBN News down. She raised a question on whether or not the Filipinos are still living in democracy. Here’s her Instagram post:

Currently, hearings about the ABS-CBN franchise are taking place. The Kapamilya bosses have attended to the discussions and defended the network from accusations.

Several issues are surrounding the network now. These include the nationality of ABS-CBN chairman emeritus Gabby Lopez and the tax paid by the Kapamilya network.
