Choi Jong-Bum, ex-boyfriend of Goo Hara, faces jail over threats to late Korean star.
GOO HARA – Late Korean singer and actress Goo Hara former boyfriend jailed following his threats to leak their malicious videos.
In a previous article, Korean singer and actress Goo Hara was found lifeless in her home. She died at the age of 28 and the cause of her death was left confidential. She allegedly took her own life which was just a month after her friend, actress and singer as well, Sulli, died by committing suicide.
And now, her ex-boyfriend, Choi Jong-bum, got jailed for threatening the late actress to leak her sex tape. This he did after they broke up threatening “to end her entertainment career” by leaking their videos.
It was a clear blackmail which also played a part on why she committed suicide. To recall, in 2018, the late member of former girl group Kara was seen in a clip that have circulated online where she was kneeling and begging him not to do it.
Choi Jong-bum was convicted of multiple crimes such as blackmail and inflicting injuries. According to the SCMP report, the blackmail had “seriously damaged” the late star’s reputation and it caused her “irreversible trauma”.
In a statement from the court, it stated that Choi “was well aware that the degree of damage would be very serious if the sex videos were leaked, given that the victim was a famous celebrity”. However, there were not enough evidence that the late actress has not consented for them to be filmed while doing it.
Before the Korean star died, she got hospitalized over suspected suicide attempt and apologized to her fans. Accordingly, she has been “in agony over a number of issues”.
