Antipolo Market Under Lockdown After Vendors Contract Coronavirus

ANTIPOLO MARKET UNDER LOCKDOWN – The Antipolo New Public Market was shut down after vendors were found positive for COVID-19.

Furthermore, the lockdown would last for 14 days, the recommended length of quarantine for the coronavirus. According to reports, 18 vendors were found positive for the deadly disease.

Currently, the vendors were put into isolation in the local government’s quarantine facilities since June 25. Moreover, authorities have begun contact tracing according to Mayor June Ynares.

Along with this, close to 800 tenants of the said market were tested for COVID-19 on the same day. The results showed that 28 vendors were positive for the virus based on rapid tests.

Based on an article from ABS-CBN, Ynares said that those who were found positive in the rapid tests and those who showed symptoms had confirmatory tests.

Concerned for the tenants, Ynares emphasized that the vendors would likely not be able to pay for hospitalization if they had no PhilHealth. As such, he urged private markets to “be responsible landlords” and to help tenants get tested.

Kung wala po kayong pang gastos bilang landlords para sa inyong mga tenants, ipaalam niyo lang po sa amin

However, Ynares debunks rumors that Antipolo City Mall had cases of COVID-19. He said that those rumors are merely “fake news”.

Those who would like to get tested for COVID-19 may contact the city’s 24/7 COVID-19 hotlines at 869-70362, 0951-335-9277, 0927-782-4262, 0923-081-6037, and 0916-534-4707.
