KC MONTERO – Television personality and host KC Montero and at least over 100 others were arrested in a high-rise restobar in Makati City.
Several cities in the country remained under strict community quarantine due to pandemic, most especially in most parts of Luzon as it is the worst hit part of the Philippines. And particularly in Makati City, it is still under general community quarantine or GCQ.
In GCQ, restaurants are allowed to operate again but in a limited capacity only while bars are still not allowed. And on Sunday, June 28, over 100 people got arrested in a resto-bar for allegedly violating community quarantine guidelines against mass gathering.
121 people got arrested and among them is KC Montero who, in his post, expressed regrets of going out of his home to eat. He was with his wife for dinner and the resto-bar was located on the 18th floor of a condominium in Salcedo Village, Barangay Bel-Air.
Makati police chief Col. Oscar Jacildo indicated that the raid was done after receiving reports that the said venue was operating but not following guidelines such as physical distancing. In a series of Twitter, Montero expressed his regrets and should have just stayed home and watch Gilmore Girls.
He also complained as to how they were arrested from a wide open area and put inside shoulder to shoulder without following the rule they all got arrested as violation. He wrote, “so take all of us from a wide open area, cram us into a tiny police station, hot no AC, then cram us on to truck shoulder to shoulder. how is that responsible? the exact opposite of social distancing.”
