Nicanor Abelardo (full name Nicanor Santa Ana Abelardo) was a Filipino composer who is known for kundiman songs, which he wrote before the Second World War.
Some of his works include “Ang Unang Buko”, “Amorosa”, “Kung Hindi Man”, and “Mutya Ng Pasig”.
The lyrics were originally written by Deogracias A. Rosario. This was later arranged for orchestra by Abelardo.
According to Amused of Pasig, the city is known for the folklore which is Mutya ng Pasig where, according to the sing, is about the sad fate of a woman who appears in the Pasig River during the full moon.
