Wowie de Guzman Recounts Journey From Being Member of UMD Dancer To Zumba Dance Instructor
WOWIE DE GUZMAN – Filipino actor and dancer Wowie de Guzman recounted his journey from being a UMD member to Zumba dance instructor.
Actor and dancer Jeffrey Camangyan or popularly known as Wowie de Guzman is one of the famous matinee idols from the ’90. He is one of the members of the Universal Motion Dancers (UMD).
He was the first love team of Kapamilya actress Judy Ann Santos. They have worked in several movies and teleseryes such as “Mara Clara,” “Esperanza,” “Dito Sa Puso Ko,” and “Paano Ang Puso Ko?” He also became Judy Ann’s first-ever boyfriend.
In a previous article, Wowie de Guzman looked back on his early days with the ‘Queen of Teleseryes’ Judy Ann Santos. During his online media conference for his new series ‘Ampalaya Chronicles‘ presents “Labyu Hehe,” he recalled working with the prominent actress and Gladys Reyes.

In a video uploaded by OneMusicPH on Youtube last June 21, Wowie de Guzman recounts his journey from being a UMD’s lead dancer to a Zumba dance instructor. He said his friends encouraged him to try being a Zumba dance instructor. Wowie admited that it never crossed his mind. He said he’s used to performing on stage but never tried teaching.
“Nung una, hindi ko siya pinapansin kasi nai-intimidate ako because hindi ako sanay magturo ng one hour…”
“Akala ko mahirap, Nakita ko ganun din pala… It’s just that nagsasayaw ka lang, simple lang, hindi kailangan ng mahirap,” he said.
Wowie said he started guesting in Zumba events in 2017. His friends advised him to perform the dance steps that are popularized by his dance group.
“Nung unang sampa ko pa, nagtataka ako bakit nakapang-exercise kasi akala ko ang Zumba, para siyang ballroom…”
“Siguro dahil nga performer ako, nung time na umakyat na ako ng stage, siyempre nagsigawan, nung sinayaw ko na iyong ‘Dying Inside,’ iyong mga tumatak sa amin,” he added.
