Arab Man Molested an OFW in Saudi Arabia and Usurped His Iqama or Residence Permit

Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia was molested by a stranger Arab man who usurped his ‘iqama’ or residence pass.

A male OFW was allegedly molested by a man who was forcing him to give his Iqama or residence permit. The victim was only working in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for almost eight months.

The victim with the hidden named “Peter,” said that he was in the store when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect also forced him to take his iqama and put him to the car, based on the report of GMA News.

However, because Peter was not fluent in Arabic for eight months working as a waiter in Jeddah, he was forced to obey the man because he wanted to recover his iqama.

“Noong time na ‘yon I was really vulnerable and weak. Hindi ako nabigyan ng chance na lumaban kasi ‘yon nga nauna ‘yong takot ko,” Peter said.

After the incident, Peter immediately asked his co-workers to report to the police. The suspect is currently under arrest and charges are being prepared.

Meanwhile, the Philippine consulate offered assistance to the victim. Because of his experience, Peter advises his fellow OFWs to always be careful.

“Maging aware sila na kung sakaling may mangyaring ganoon, maging malakas, maging mas matatag. ‘Wag nilang hahayaan na mangyari ‘yon sa kanila. Maging palaban,” Peter said.
