Duterte Decides On Metro Manila GCQ Fate; List of Areas Under GCQ

Pres. Duterte Gives Verdict on Fate of GCQ in Metro Manila & the Quarantine Measures in Other Areas

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte decided on the fate of the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila.

Philippines is one of the over 200 nations and territories affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This coronavirus was first recorded last December 2019 in China, specifically in the city of Wuhan in Hubei Province.

In China, over 82,000 people were infected with at least 4,000 patients dead of the said disease. Now, the coronavirus is a pandemic and according to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is going to be a long-term battle against the disease.

In the Philippines, the Department of Health (DOH) has recorded 26,420 cases of COVID-19 in the country; 1,098 deaths; and 6,252 recoveries. Quarantine measures are still up in the country.

Recently, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte decided on the fate of the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila. He also gave his verdict on the quarantine measures in several other areas.

Based on a report on Rappler, Pres. Duterte extends the GCQ in Metro Manila until June 30. Aside from Metro Manila, the following area also placed under GCQ until the end of this month:

Luzon

  • Cagayan
  • Isabela
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • Quirino
  • Santiago City
  • Aurora
  • Bataan
  • Bulacan
  • Tarlac
  • Olongapo City
  • Cavite
  • Laguna
  • Batangas
  • Rizal
  • Quezon
  • Occidental Mindoro

Visayas

  • Bohol
  • Cebu
  • Negros Oriental
  • Siquijor
  • Mandaue City
  • Lapu-Lapu City

Mindanao

  • Davao City
  • Zamboanga City

Based on the report, the rest of the Philippines is under a Modified GCQ except for Cebu City. The city is placed under an Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) again due to its increasing COVID-19 cases.
