Rich businessman Wilfredo “Willy” Dy Keng or also known as Wilfredo Keng was the one who sued Rappler CEO Maria Ressa. With her former writer Rey Santos, Ressa was charged guilty of cyber libel case filed against her. The verdict was released on Monday, June 15.
Who is Wilfredo Keng? As of February 2019, he is the president of seven (7) companies and was one of the Philippines’ 40 richest personalities as per Forbes on 2010 with an estimated net worth of $US100 million or Php 5,024,050,000.00 in the current value. He was then on the 32nd spot.
He is accordingly the chairman, CEO and president of mining company Century Peak Metals Holdings Corp (CPM) which was listed on the Philippine Stock Exchange in 2009. As per Bloomberg’s latest executive profile, he is also into shopping malls and real estates. As a businessman, he is actively engaged in businesses both here and in China.
Keng is president of other conglomerates such as:
- Colony Investors Inc
- Good Earth Plaza
- U-Need Shopping Center
- Cariedo Plaza
- Balikbayan Shopping Mall
- Century Peak Corp.
And his business in China include Fil-China (Tianjin) Textile Inc, Colony Real Property Development (Weifang) Inc, and Wuzhou Long (Quanzhou) Automotive Mfg Co Ltd.
Just recently, Rappler CEO was convicted and found guilty of cyber libel charges filed by the businessman over an article which was published on 2012. The complaint was filed on 2017.
