Sophia Senoron also has beauty pageant harassment experience
Miss Multinational 2017 Sophia Senoron shared her beauty pageant harassment experience after former beauty queen Janina San Miguel had her revelations.
Beauty pageant is one of the most-awaited events in the Philippines. It can be considered that most Filipinos are pageant fans with all its glamour and prestige. However, behind the bright and glittery world, there is a dark portion.
Janina recently revealed to public that she received indecent proposals when she joined the national pageant. Apparently, she is not alone in having this experience.
Sophia revealed in a recent interview with GMA’s 24 Oras that she also received indecent proposals. “Because you win, you become more of a prized target,” she shared.

According to the beauty queen, she was offered with expensive items. “The biggest thing that I was offered was bahay, condo, car, everything. Ang makapal pa ‘yung mukha is hindi pa sa ‘kin diniretso, sa nanay ko,” Sophia revealed.
She added that it is a very negative narrative that people think that women are easy targets. Sophia also said that this kind of scenario is happening almost all parts of the globe.
“Women will always be considered as an object in some parts of the world and it’s disgusting, and it’s something that needs to stop,” the beauty queen added. She also said that this happens in both minor and major pageants.
Sophia also shared that in local pageants, the thirst for win of the contestants is really obvious as well as their managers. Apparently, that hunger can prompt the beauty pageant harassment.
On the other hand, Sophia said that she and Janina are lucky that they joined in prestigious pageants wherein this kind of untoward incident is still controlled.
