Here’s Why Chinese Government Urge Citizens Not To Travel To Australia
CHINESE – Here is the reason why the Chinese governmenturged its citizens not to travel to Australia.
The first person infected with the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) may have been a resident in Wuhan City, China. The Chinese government immediately place the city into a hard lock to stop the spread of the deadly virus.
However, the virus spread globally. The number of COVID-19 infected around the world has passed 6 million and reached 400,000 deaths on June 7, 2020.
The spread of the coronavirus has also led to the increase of bullying, hate against Asians, and racism. Last March, a 23-year-old Singapore man who’s studying in London revealed his ordeal on his social media account.
He said he was assaulted by a group of young men. One of the bullies said something about the deadly virus. He is not the only one who got victimized by racial discrimination amid the pandemic.
Based on a report from The News Daily, the Chinese government warned its citizens not to travel to Australia because of the rise of violence racial discrimination and violence linked to coronavirus. Asians claimed they have been harassed since the outbreak.
China’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism issued a statement saying, “there has been an alarming increase recently in acts of racial discrimination and violence against Chinese and Asians in Australia, due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“The Ministry of Culture and Tourism reminds Chinese tourists to enhance their safety awareness and do not travel to Australia,” it added.
