67-YEAR-OLD LADY WALKS FOR HOURS – An old lady almost passed out after walking for hours just trying to get a ride amid the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) in Metro Manila.

As restrictions eased, public transportation has been allowed but with limited capacity. As such, thousands of workers struggle to commute to work as Metro Manila transitions from ECQ to GCQ.

Felica Osiana was reported to have walked 30 mins from Aghan to Quezon City Hall in hopes of catching a ride. However, due to the heavy traffic of commuters she wasn’t able to do so. Thus, she decided to walk for another hour to MRT3 North.

But, upon arriving at the station, she has turned away yet again. As a precaution against the spread of COVID-19, the elderly were not allowed to travel based on IATF protocols.

According to Jacque Manabat, Osiana was aided by the MRT3 medical team at the stairs going to the platform. Luckily, I-ACT saw the situation Osiana was in and offered her a ride home.

Due to the effects of COVID-19, people had lost their primary sources of income. In lieu of this, people such as Osiana have been placed in dire straits. Osiana explained that she was trying to claim her husband’s pension in San Juan so she could buy her maintenance medicine.

Amid the coronavirus epidemic in the country, people such as Felica have left no choice but to risk going outside for essential needs. Thus netizens have called on the government to provide the necessary support for people such as Felicc Osiana.
