Delivery App Rider Arrested After Plans to Deliver Drugs to Chinese National

MAKATI CITY- A delivery app rider who plans to deliver illegal drugs to a Chinese national got arrested at an Oplan Sita checkpoint, Thursday.

The rider was an employee of a delivery app, attempts to deliver illegal drugs called ‘shabu’ to an alleged Chinese national in Makati City. He was arrested at Bar-Bel-Air, Makati City at an Oplan Sita checkpoint Thursday morning.

According to the report of Anjo Bagaoisan of ABS-CBN News, the motorcycle was driven by 38-year-old alias Pedro was halted at Nicanor Garcia Street at 2:45 am. olice Maj. Gideon Ines ng Makati Police said, the rider is traveling beyond curfew time, the rider was apprehended because the motorcycle did not have a side mirrors.

Ines added that the rider attempted to escape from the authorities. The rider, however, neither run far off. Authorities recovered 6 grams of suspected shabu in paper bags and boxes.

The confiscated drugs were worth P70,000. It also includes drug paraphernalia and red pills called “scented shabu”. Peter said he would take the drug to a Chinese who was staying in a condominium in Makati.

The drugs were allegedly sent by another Chinese who met him on Chino Roces Avenue when he was on his way home from Manila. The Chinese man promised to give him P500 to deliver the bubble wrap package.

He was told that the package contained herbal medicine. Police set up a checkpoint in the area following the arrest their last week of 2 Chinese who were drugged and shot.

Ines says it is likely that it has a connection with the Chinese sender and receiver so it is included in their follow-up investigation. Peter will be charged with disobedience, resisting arrest, and violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
