Couple Died After the Ambulance Fell Over the 10 Feet Ravine in Cagayan

The married couple died was among the four passengers in of ambulance fell on the 10 feet ravine in Cagayan province this Sunday afternoon.

The ambulance fell on the cliff in Barangay Bitag Grande, Baggao, Cagayan. According to the report, as the ambulance was traveling down the road, the driver suddenly stopped to avoid a person crossing the road.

As a result, the ambulance goes straight to the 10-foot deep ravine. According to Police Capt. Rey Viernes, chief of the Baggao Police Station, said the ambulance was supposed to transport patient Alvaro Dumayag to a hospital in Tuguegarao .

Alvaro was allegedly suffering from chest pain, so his wife, Violeta, immediately call the ambulance to bring him to the hospital. Aside from his wife, a nurse from Baggao District Hospital was also a passenger of the said ambulance.

“Ang dahilan po, nakita ko po doon ay dahil po sa mga putik na galing sa bundok kaya nag-slide po, medyo madulas na yung kalsada,” Viernes said.

The ambulance driver suffered a concussion and the nurse is now recovering in the hospital. According to relatives, the Dumayag couple suffered severe head injuries.

Violeta also suffered a broken leg. The next day, Alvaro lost his life. The provincial government of Cagayan has promised to provide assistance to the orphaned of the couple.
