Pasig City Gives Opportunity to Jobless Tricycle Drivers as They Partners with Foodpanda
The local government of Pasig City partners with Foodpanda will provide jobs to tricycle drivers who lost livelihoods due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Previously, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno announced that the local government partnered with food delivery company FoodPanda PH to support jobless tricycle drivers amid enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) crisis.
On the same intention, Mayor of Pasig City, Vico Sotto on Thursday, signed the partnership agreement called “pandaTODA” with the Foodpanda managing director Daniel Marogy. Sotto said the project will help hundreds of tricycle drivers in the city.
“All of them have been hit by this crisis and a lot of them don’t know where to get their next meal from. With the help of foodpanda, we will be able to help hundreds of tricycle drivers who have no source of income right now,” Sotto said in a press statement.
Based on the report, aside from the giving opportunity to jobless citizens, the said project will also help reduce the number close contacts and citizens can prevent themselves from going out. The panTODA members can also choose for their job after ECQ, whether they pursue to be a Foodpanda rider or return to tricycle driver.
The project PandaTODA was first introduced in Manila City in partnership with the City Hall of Manila last May 11. This aims to help and support thousands of tricycle drivers and their families in Metro Manila who lost their means of livelihood during the pandemic.
