MAKATI – The local government is set to give a Php 5,000.00 cash aid and the residents of subdivisions may avail it.

The coronavirus or COVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines has affected almost everything and everyone. Several non-essential businesses have to temporarily stop their operation amid the widespread community quarantines.

Not only the employees but as well as the employers are affected by the crisis. Not only the poorest of the poor but as well as the middle class earners were seeking for some aid amid this time of crisis.

The national government has set up the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) to help some of the citizens. Several government agencies like the Social Insurance Institution (SSS) also launched programs and offers that provide assistance to the people.

Aside from them, many local government units are also helping their constituents amid the COVID-19 crisis. In Makati, a cash aid that may qualify not only the poor residents of the city but as well as those who are residing in subdivisions.

Based on a report in ABS-CBN News, Makati Mayor Abby Binay stressed to DZMM that even those living in subdivisions are also taxpayers. The said subdivisions include the exclusive ones like the Dasmarinas Village and the Forbes.

The residents may apply for the cash aid online. However, Mayor Binay apologized that there may be a little delay as there are a lot of applications sent to the portal.

Meanwhile, the City Mayor assured the public that the cash aid is not limited to a specific number of beneficiaries. According to the article, the local government has already assessed the number of residents qualified for the cash aid.

Mayor Binay expressed that the city government has allotted 2.7 billion for the cash assistance for the residents amid the COVID-19 crisis. The money may be sent through their “Makatizen” cards or GCash.
