Duterte Comforts Grieving Mothers Of Fallen Frontliners During Speech

DUTERTE COMFORTS GRIEVING MOTHERS – President Rodrigo Duterte comforted mothers who have lost their children who fought against COVID-19.

Following Mother’s day, the President sympathized with mothers whose children worked as frontliners. During his public address, Duterte stated:

Yung mga nanay na nawala ang anak fighting COVID, doing the highest, noble endeavor one can do in this world, is to serve your fellow man, you have our kind thoughts and prayers.

Afterward, Duterte added that everybody dies at some point. However, he emphasized that the frontliners who died in the battle against COVID-19 brought with them their “Universal Identity” – doing something for their fellow man.

According to a report from ABS-CBN, the President also reminisced about her mother, Soledad. He said that because of her, Duterte got to become president.

The President’s mother served as a public school teacher in his hometown of Davao City. She passed away at the age of 95 on 2015, a year before Duterte was seated into presidency.

Because of his achievement of being the highest official in the Philippines, Duterte said that his mother “must be smiling or she must be in a state of wonderment.

Currently, the Philippines is still continuing its battle against COVID-19. However, the country still has a long way to go before the rising curve of COVID-19 cases could be flattened.

Moreover, the country also has the highest percentage of medical worker deaths compared to other ASEAN countries. As such, residents of the Philippines cry out for mass testing of the new coronavirus.
