Some Residents Get Jailed For Posting Complaints on Facebook After Not Receiving SAP Cash Assistance

Several residents who were posting complaints on Facebook after not receiving SAP cash aid allegedly arrested and get jailed.

DILG Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño said that they are receiving complaints from some individuals who were allegedly arrested and get jailed for posting their sentiments online.

Diño said that those individuals were expressing their complaints on social media for not receiving Social Amelioration Program cash aid. Some local officials were allegedly taking the accused at the barangay hall and detaining them at the jail for the posts.

“Meron pa diyan nag-post sa Facebook na, ‘Ako ay hindi nakatanggap. Ako ay hinatian (ng ayuda). Ako ay tinakot, Pinuntahan ‘yung nag-Facebook at kinaladkad papuntang barangay. Meron pa, ipinakulong,” Diño said.

The government official also warned the police authorities not to detain those individuals for posting online. He also said that cops could face corresponding sanctions and penalties if caught.

The DILG executive also ensured that all complaints filed against the officials involved in SAP cash aid distribution irregularities would have a case buildup.
