Police Trying to Smuggle Boxes of Liquor Amid Ban Arrested
ILOILO – A police was arrested after caught trying to smuggle boxes of liquor despite liquor ban due to enhanced community quarantine (ECQ).
In a Facebook post of Bombo Radyo Iloilo, photos of boxes of liquor that got seized in Cabugao Sur, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo City. The suspect was identified as an alleged police.
At least 30 boxes of whiskey were recovered inside the car of the suspect. The suspect will possibly face charges for defying the lockdown protocols declaring a liquor ban in accordance with the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.”
Since the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) was implemented throughout the country to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) the government also imposed a liquor ban as this is the apparent reason why people are violating the law.
Violators mostly men are being arrested for violating curfew and enhanced community protocol because of drinking liquor. And because of intoxication it may lead them to disobeying and defaming authorities.
