QCPD arrested a GMA 7 employee
A GMA 7 employee was arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) after he swallowed a sachet of a suspected prohibited substance.
QCPD Director Police Brigadier General Ronnie S Montejo released a statement saying that Baron Giovani Belison, working as a field production assistant of GMA 7 News and Public Affairs was stopped and checked in a Quarantine Checkpoint on May 4 in Brgy. Loyola Heights, Quezon City.
Belison, 36 years old, single, is a resident of No. 12 Area 9 Durian St., Barangay Pasong Tamo, Quezon City. The suspect was on board a Nissan Frontier motor vehicle with plate No. POQ 361 and with body markings GMA DZBB 594 KHR, based on the Facebook post of PIO QCPD.
Personnel from Anonas Police Station (PS 9) headed by PLTCOL Ritchie Claravall who were manning the checkpoint Aurora Blvd in front of Veteran’s Bank, Brgy. Loyola saw that Belison was having a heated altercation another male motorist who was driving a blue Toyota Revo with plate No. WNC 351.
When the police approached them in order to pacify the situation and reportedly Belison tried to escape but the authorities stopped him. Then, he was asked to present his driver’s license when two police officers saw two transparent plastic sachets of a suspected prohibited substance.
The GMA 7 employee swallowed one sachet but the police were able to seize the other sachet with 0.2 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Authorities immediately arrested him and brought to Police Station 9. for investigation.
Belison is now facing these charges: Reckless Driving and Violation of Art. 2 Sec 11 of RA 9165. Based on the post, these will be referred for the inquest at the City Prosecutor’s Office.
