Student Report Teacher for Forcing them Submit Assignment Amid Suspended Class

ILOILO CITY – a teacher is under probe after one of his students report him because he still requires submission of assignments amid class suspension.

A 20-year-old student hidden with the name of ‘May’ at the Iloilo Science and Technology University complained that they were still required to submit their teacher assignments even the class was suspended due to Enhanced Community Quarantine.

According to the report of Aksyon Radyo Iloilo, May shares, they are in a difficult situation because not all of the students of Mr. Ike Lagos has a good device and internet connection. She also said that she has some classmates who live in the un-urbanize area and need to go to their town proper to connect for the internet.

Due of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), coming out of the house is limited and only emergency cases or important matter are allowed. May and other classmates have since filed their complaint with the ISAT-U to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

Meanwhile, Dr. Raul Muyong, the President of ISAT-U clarified that students are not required to submit assignments or outputs. Dr. Muyong issued a memorandum 087 on March 19, which suspends alternative mode of teaching, learning, and assessment due to ECQ.

Authorities have already investigated the complaint against Lagos. Dr. muyong was shocked after found out that Lagos still continue the submission of assignments even he was already warned.
