Former presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo addresses articles of a columnist.

SALVADOR PANELO – Chief Presidential Legal Counsel of President Duterte, Salvador Panelo, calls out articles of PDI columnist.

In times when President Duterte addresses the nation regarding the pandemic COVID-19, most of the time, it happens late at night. People have found this time as a bit late as not everyone can say up until that time. With this, a columnist from Philippine Daily Inquirer, John Nery, expressed his view about this.

In Salvador Panelo’s interview just recently, talking about this matter, defended the president indicating that Duterte’s clock is different than most of us. He works at night until the morning. This is which is why he faces the nation late at night and there would surely be a replay to this to be releases for the public so, he sees no problem with this.

He stressed then that in a certain column from the same writer, it was asked there as to who would adjust, the president or the people? Panelo responded that no one should and added, “Gaya po ng sinabi natin, whether late sa gabi ang address ng presidente ay hindi naman maaapektuhan ang taong-bayan sapagkat, the following morning, ire-replay yun”

Moreover, he also cited from the write up implying that the country was the last to do prevention measures to contain the spread of the virus. To which, Panelo has refuted saying that the president was among the first leaders to declare lockdown and was only doing what’s must to do in accordance to the announcement coming from the World Health Organization.

He also said, “Makikita po natin na nagiging epektibo po ang ginawang lockdown ng presidente at hindi po maaring sabihin na naging pabaya si presidente. Lahat po ay ginawa niya.”
