Malicious Photo of 2020-2021 School Calendar is Fake, DepEd Says

SCHOOL CALENDAR – The Department of Education (DepEd) revealed that the viral photo of 2020-2021 school calendar is fake.

Earlier this week, the viral photo of a calendar showing the beginning and end of school year 2020-2021 is already circulating online. The unverified calendar is already spreading various social media pages.

The apparent calendar shows that the class for the next school year would start on August 3, 2020, and will end on April 16, 2021.  The photo also shows the schedule of examination dates, Christmas break, and other activities.

On Wednesday (April 22, 2020), the Education Department released an official statement against the malicious photo. DepEd described the viral photo as false and unofficial. They also encouraged the public to verify information first before sharing it online.

“We would like to clarify that the information from a malicious photo circulating online of what is supposedly the school calendar for SY 2020-2021 is false and unofficial,” DepEd said.

The agency also that the official school calendar for SY 2020-2021 will be released and posted on DepEd’s website and official Facebook page.
