Leading Cause Of Death In US Now COVID-19, Surpassing Heart Disease, Cancer

COVID-19 LEADING CAUSE OF DEATH – The new coronavirus had surpassed heart disease and cancer for the highest daily deaths.

Based on a graph released by physician Maria Danilychev, COVID-19 caused 1,970 deaths in the U.S. per day. Last week, COVID-19 was on the third leading cause of death taking over accidents with fatalities at about 748 per day.

According to a report from the Hill, the rapid increase in COVID-19 deaths started on March 22. Here, the daily average rose beyond diseases like the flu, pneumonia, kidney disease, suicide, and other leading causes.

However, a sliver of good news was also revealed by charts that now show that localized cases are beginning to slow down. As such, hard-hit areas like New York reported that hospitalization rates are declining for now.

Furthermore, Anthony Fauci, the lead in the US’ coronavirus task force said earlier projection of fatalities are less likely to occur. Previously, Fauci estimated at least 100,000 to 240,000 COVID-19 fatalities would be seen in the US.

As per the report, Fauci now estimates the number of fatalities at around 60,000. These projections are based on data-driven models from several sources such as the University of Washington.

Furthermore, due to the decreased trend in coronavirus cases, Fauci lauded the American public for adhering to social distancing practices.

Additionally, he emphasized that people must remain distant from each other for now during these dire times. Lastly, Fauci noted that if the trend continues to lower, there a better outlook would be achievable.
