In a report of Los Angeles Times, a California woman has been arrested after licking $1,800 worth of groceries and other items at a supermarket in the northern part of the state, police said on Wednesday.

Chris Fiore, a spokesman for the South Lake Tahoe police department, they were called to respond to the Safeway store on Tuesday over reports of ‘licking’ groceries inside of the store,” amid the threat of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

The suspect was identified as Jennifer Walker, 53, carrying a cart full of food, such as meat and liquor. Safeway employees said they witnessed the suspect putting numerous pieces of jewelry from the store on her hands, and licking the jewelry.

Officers contacted the suspect inside the store and determined that she’s not buying the items in her carts. According to Fiore, the suspect would be charged with felony vandalism as he had destroyed the objects he was holding because they might be contaminated.
