Gapan LGU Revoked the Food Aid Given to Constituents due to Social Media Post
The Gapan City, Nueva Ecija local government unit (LGU) revoked the food aid given to a dog lover constituent because of a Facebook post.
Previously, the Mayor of Gapan City Emerson Pascual, distributes sacks of rice on every household in his area. Mayor Pascual gives whole and live chickens to the residents amid the coronavirus outbreak.
The Mayor together with his colleagues is giving whole chickens to each home. The residents were grateful to the kindness and generosity of the local government officials in the city.
Meanwhile, the Mayor feels embarrassed to one of his constituents who received a sack of rice for his post on social media. In a Facebook post of Anthana Namguz Ed Wo, he wrote “Dumating na 1 bulto ng bigas di na magugutom mga aso ko. Salamat mayor may bigas na mga aso ko.”
Based on the article of Virtual Pinoy, Mayor Pascual read Jonathan’s post and he allegedly reposted Jonathan’s post and within three hours, five thousand Gapan netizens were angry with Jonathan.
In a video of Mayor Pascual said he felt embarassed when he read the post of a man he identified as Jonathan Romo who rented a house in Barangay Mangino in Gapan, but a legitimate resident of Barangay Tambo in San Isidro town.
As a result, the Mayor immediately called for the man to withdraw the sack of rice he received because the rice was distributed to people affected by the enhanced community quarantine and not to the dogs, as based on the article.
The dog owner explained, he said he is the only tenant in Barangay Mangino and his only companion in the house is his pet dogs. He then apologized to the netizens over his post.
However, the mayor ordered to do a background check if the pet owner really owns many dogs and to prove that he’s telling the truth. The mayor never withdrew the rice given to Jonathan.
