The short story was an Oz tale written by American stage performer, actor, poet and independent filmmaker L. Frank Baum. It is among the six tales of a collection called the Little Wizard Stories of Oz.

These six stories are set in the wonderful land of Oz and were separately published in 1913. They are also known as the Oz Books in Miniature.

The stories are meant to promote the return of the Oz series. This story is one of them.

Here is the summary of the story:

The cowardly lion and hungry tiger grew bored of their guard duty at the throne of Ozma in the Royal Palace of Emerald City.

The lion wants to assault a man and make a chop suey out of him. The tiger, on the other hand, wanted to resolve his hunger for a fat baby.

They prowled the streets of Emerald City trying to cause mayhem. They ended up failing to comply their desire and ended up saving a lost child and returning him back to his mother.
