COVID-19 TURNS BALUT INTO DUCKLINGS – The balut is one of the Philippines’ most popular and beloved street foods, but due to coronavirus, this happened.
Because of the enhanced community quarantine and the majority of the residents opting to stay indoors, hundreds of Balut eggs turned into ducklings!
To those of you who don’t know what a balut is, it’s basically a duck fetus heated to be eaten. But, due to the quarantine, these duck fetuses got themselves a chance to develop into full-blown ducklings.
In that box right there, we have hundreds of ducklings who were fated to be eaten as a delicacy. However, the coronavirus somehow had other plans for them.
Aside from these little guys, there were still hundreds of balut eggs in that warehouse. Potentially, those eggs could also turn into ducklings of their own.
But now, the question is, what are the owners of the balut business going to do with hundreds of ducklings? Luckily, there are a variety of options to choose from.
It’s going to take a while before things are going to get back to normal. Additionally, people would be more careful when traveling and adhering to social distancing.
So we’ll have to wait and see what’s going to happen to the thousands of balut eggs spread across the Philippines.
