DOH asks for volunteer health workers to earn and they will be given Php 500.00 daily.
VOLUNTEER HEALTH WORKERS – DOH released statement asking health workers to volunteer and they will receive Php 500.00 per day and Php 1-million if they die due to COVID-19.
Amid the Coronavirus Disease 2019 crisis, the Department of Health (DOH) asked our health workers and frontliners such as doctors, nurses, and among others to volunteer working as we combat the virus. Those who will accordingly volunteer will receive Php 500.00 daily and if they die because of COVID 19, they will have a payout worth Php 1-million.
Php 500.00 is a minimum wage for workers here in the Philippine. And after reading the statement from DOH, many people rallied indicating that frontliners putting their lives and health at risk everyday and receive such small sum of amount is not right.
According, the volunteers will be assigned one of the three hospitals: Lung Center, Philippine General Hospital, or Dr. Jose N. Rodriguez Memorial Hospital. This will last for 14 consecutive days in an eight-hour shift daily. After that, referred to as a “short holiday”, the volunteers will be put under 14-day mandatory on-site quarantine.
They will be provided of food and accommodation and if one worker to have “severe COVID-19 infection”, he or she will receive Php 100,000.00 regardless if they have come from public or private. And those who will die will receive Php 1-million.
