After the Luzon-wide lockdown has been implemented, a lot of people have lost their jobs. Because companies are forced to close or let their employees work from home to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

However, not all people are fortunate to have savings while staying at home. That meant that many suddenly found themselves without enough money to buy food for their family.

Government officials started distributing some relief goods to their constituents, a few kilograms of rice, some packs of noodles, and few canned goods won’t last a family for a long period of time.

Recently, a netizen on Facebook named Alejandro Devera Garcia shared a video of his family having a meal. The video shows three of his kids and him carrying a bowl of rice which he will share it with his kids.

Garcia posted the video with his kids, feeding them with rice while letting them smell a piece of ‘tuyo’ (dried fish) he hung with a string from the ceiling. He explains to his kids that they don’t have enough money and food to last until the end of lockdown.

Garcia encouraged his children to simply smell the dried fish then eat some rice. That way, they could all still have full tummies and won’t lead them to starve.

Meanwhile, others found it funny because this scene also appeared in one of the late Babalu’s movies. However, this turns to heartbreak because some referred to reality. Many netizens praised him for his clever idea though it breaks their hearts to see the family doing this because they had no other choice.
