Previously, President Rodrigo Duterte has already declared a state of public health emergency and placed the entire island of Luzon on lockdown from Monday until April 12 to help contain the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Under the lockdown’s guidelines, Filipinos in Luzon can only leave their homes to access “basic necessities.” Public markets, supermarkets, groceries, and convenience stores will remain open to the public.

Duterte said that barangays will be in charge of supplying food to residents in Luzon as the country’s northern mainland is placed under “enhanced community quarantine” to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Meanwhile, the chairman of Barangay Canagahan San Remegio, Cebu earned criticism from the netizens after she made disrespectful remarks against President Rodrigo Duterte.

Recently, Barangay Chairman Nicole Cambal criticized President Rodrigo Duterte after the latter asked the chairman of their respective places to take care of their constituents during the period of the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a Facebook post of concerned netizens named Reen Ramirez, Cambal said that President Rodrigo Duterte is making the barangay chairman as a “scapegoat” for being responsible for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak in the country.

She claimed that the national government didn’t allocate enough resources to the barangays, including Canagahan. The chairman said that her barangay doesn’t have enough funds and resources to combat COVID-19.

When President Rodrigo Duterte said that he’s going after irresponsible Barangay Captains, Cambal dared the president to come to her place. “Hala sige Duterte come to my barangay,” she said on her comment.
