According to an article from the Korean Herald, the government is in high alert as additional coronavirus clusters emerged in Daegu. Previously, the city was linked to the majority of cases nationwide.

Based on a previous report, we learned about how a single patient caused two clusters which then caused 80% of the cases in the country.

Recently, Daegu reported new clusters of infections at a nursing home, Hansang Nursing Hospital. As per the article, 57 patients and 17 medical staff have tested positive for the virus.

There were 117 patients hospitalized with 71 medical staff total at the hospital, which was immediately placed under quarantine. Along with this, four other nursing homes reported 13 new cases.

  • Baesung Hospital – 7
  • Suseong Hospital  – 4
  • Jinmyung Silver Home – 1
  • Siji Giriatic Hospital – 1

The sudden increase in the number of confirmed cases in nursing homes was caused by Daegu’s exhaustive testings. This was done amid concerns regarding mass infections among seniors.

Meanwhile, even with 2,867 cases of COVID-19 in patients under 30, there have been zero fatalities among them. Merely one patient between age 30 and 39 had succumbed to the virus. Likewise, between ages 40-49, there has also been only 1 fatality recorded.

Currently, there have been 219,367 cases of COVID-19 worldwide. Along with this, 8,970 people have succumbed to the virus. However, over 85,749 people have already recovered.
