Italy is on a total lockdown now. It is due to the outbreak of the COVID-19, a disease that was first recorded in China and had left the Chinese nation under an outbreak infecting over 70,000 people.

Initially, the lockdown only covered the Lombardy region and 14 provinces in Italy. However, it seems that it was not enough to contain the spread of the disease as the infected cases continued to increase.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte extended the lockdown to the whole nation. He also ordered the non-essential businesses to stop their operation. Only those needed in the time of crisis like grocery stores and pharmacies may operate.
