Experts projected that the anti-virus could be developed as long as 2021. However, several companies have begun tests of their own.

Recently, it was announced that Moderna Therapeutics, a biotech company in Cambridge had mass shipped the first batches of COVID-19 vaccines.

According to a previous article, the first vials were sent to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). As such, human testing of the vaccine will be ready as early as April.

Meanwhile, researchers from Australia believe that they have found the cure for the new coronavirus – HIV and Malaria drugs.

According to a report from the Daily Mail, a team of infectious disease experts at the University of Queensland in Brisbane claimed two existing drugs managed to eradicated COVID-19 infections.

The scientists used Chloroquine, an anti-malaria drug paired with lopinavir/ritonavir, an HIV-suppressing drug showed significant results in human tests that made COVID-19 disappear in infected patients.

As per the report, Professor David Paterson expressed hopes that larger-scale pharmaceutical trials could be done by the end of March.

According to Paterson, when he gave the HIV medication to infected patients, the virus seemed to have disappeared.

Similar methods were also used in the early days of the virus outbreak in China. However, this method had not been extensively tested on a more controlled basis.

Likewise, Doctors in Thailand also used the same combination of drugs to treat coronavirus patients.

Based on a report, Dr. Kriangsak, Atipornwanich, a doctor at Rajavithi Hospital in Bangkok, mixed a combination of flu treatments and drugs used in treating HIV.
