ITALY – The country recorded its highest rise of coronavirus death cases so far since the outbreak began.

Several nations across the globe now are suffering from the impact of the 2019 coronavirus cases. The said disease was initially recorded in China and is rampant in several countries now.

One of the countries greatly affected by the novel coronavirus, officially called as COVID-19, is Italy. In fact, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte ordered for a total lockdown in the country.

The lockdown in Italy initially covered certain areas only. The travel restrictions were imposed on Lombardy region, the epicenter of coronavirus in the country, and 14 provinces in the country.

However, the total number of infected cases and deaths in the country continued to soar. Unfortunately, Italy recently recorded its highest number of coronavirus death cases so far.

Based on a report on GMA News, the Italian authorities recorded 368 deaths on Sunday. It ignited concern on the health system in the country.

Currently, the country remains to be the nation with the second highest number of coronavirus cases and deaths in the world next to China. Based on Worldometers, the country has now recorded a total 24,747 infected cases and 1,809 death cases.

Based on the report, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte expressed that the government is now on procuring more protective gears. More attention is currently needed by Lombardy.

In a statement, the Italian Prime Minister stressed that amid the fight, it prioritizes the safety of the medical personnel as well. The government has assured assistance to the people and businesses affected by the national crisis.
