Class, Gov’t Work Suspension in Metro Manila to April 14 Extended by Malacañang Palace

WALANG PASOK – Malacañang Palace extends the class and government work suspension in Metro Manila until April 14, 2020 (Tuesday) due to COVID-19.

Earlier, the Palace has released the social distancing measures or guidelines for community quarantine to prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019. The guidelines said that the agencies and education departments must obey President Duterte’s directive.

Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea said that the classes in all levels shall remain suspended in the National Capital Region until April 14, 2020. The schools must also provide proper arrangements for the students.

“Provide adequate arrangements to allow students to continue fulfilling their requirements during said period,” the memorandum wrote.

However, the local government units in NCR must ensure that the students remain at home during the cancellation of classes. President Duterte also told the students to study during the suspension.

“Kung wala kang magawa, sabi ng gobyerno, mag-aral ka, ang sigurado ako, mga kamay ninyo, nasa cellphone yan instead of studying,” Duterte said.

Guidelines

The coronavirus disease is still spreading in different countries all around the world and affects thousands of people worldwide. The deadly virus killed thousands of people and causes fear and panic to the public.

  1. I only wish in my own country, this disease was taken as seriously as it is taken here in the Philippines. I feel safe here and I fear for my 77 year old mother back in England.
