Russian Pharma Company Will Donate Free Medicine Against COVID-19 in PH
A leading Russian pharmaceutical company offered to donate medicine for the treatment against coronavirus (COVID-19) to the Philippines.
In a report of CNN, the Russian Ambassador said that Russian company Polysan is offering to give the Philippines a medicine they developed called “Cycloferon.” He said the medicine has been tested to be effective in Russia and China in treating patients with COVID-19.
Cycloferon is an over-the-counter medicine that is used to cure patients with major viral and bacterial infections. Khovaev described the drug as “highly-effective” and said that in China, its effects are ” very, very encouraging, and very positive.”
He added that with the help of Cycloferon, Russia has been successful in containing COVID-19 in their country. “It’s offered as donation just to extend the hand of help to our Filipino partners so now this offer is under consideration in Manila.”
For now, the World Health Organization has not yet announced that there are specific treatments against the virus. Propose treatments and cures are under investigation and will undergo clinical trials to be tested.
Meanwhile, the Philippines government is currently implementing precautionary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease as the confirmed case COVID-19 quickly increased to 52.
