House To Conduct Inquiry On Greenhills Hostage Taker Situation
GREENHILLS HOSTAGE TAKER – Alchie Paray turned the tides on society with his controversial hostage-taking.
However, Paray didn’t want anything out of it except to be heard. Paray made a statement that may yet send a wave to crash upon the unjust work environments in the country.
According to an article from Manila Bulletin, the House Committee on Labor and Employment decided to undergo a congressional inquiry. They would focus not on the incident, but on the injustice that led him to commit a crime.
I do not condone his actions – endangering lives and violating public order and safety laws. However, there may have been compelling reasons as to why Mr. Paray took such desperate actions, and it’s a matter we should look into.

Additionally, ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Nina Taduran stated that Paray’s complaints regarding maltreatment and bullying of private security must be investigated.
With this, she urged the Philippine National Police-Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (PNP-SOSIA) to look into the complaints.
Mr. Paray never demanded money. His demand was that he wanted to be heard and explain his side,

After the grueling 9-hour negotiations, Paray explained that he committed his crime due to the unfair treatment of his superiors. He also mentioned the alleged corruption his superiors were involved with.
In addition, he emphasized the unjust and harsh working conditions he had to endure just to remain under contract.
His statement resonated clearly and was heard here at Congress.
It is imperative that the House of Representatives, through its labor committee, to exercise its oversight duty on matters concerning the welfare and protection of our hardworking workers.
However, as per the article, Taduran stressed that Paray should answer for his crimes.
