Mikey Garcia Wants to Fight Manny Pacquiao After Jessie Vargas Win

MANNY PACQUIAO – American boxer Mikey Garcia wants to fight Manny Pacquiao or have a rematch with Errol Spence Jr. after he defeated Jessie Vargas on Saturday.

It’s been 8 months since Manny Pacquiao last fought. The Filipino boxing icon defeated American boxer, Keith Thurman, on July 20, 2020, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Before his fight with Thurman, he defeated Lucas Matthysse and Adrien Broner in just over a 12-month span.

The Legendary Pinoy boxer hasn’t lost since losing to Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 2, 2015. He is currently focusing on his job as a lawmaker in the Philippines.

Manny Pacquiao remains as one of the most famous boxers today and his fans are surely anticipating his next fight. Based on a report from The Manila Times, professional American boxer Mikey Garcia announced that he wants Pacquiao to be his next opponent or have a rematch with Errol Spence Jr.

The 32-year-old boxer said that a press conference after he defeated Jessi Vargas by unanimous decision on Saturday night at Ford Center at The Star. Garcia scored his first career victory as a welterweight.

According to the report, Mikey Garcia clarified that a rematch with Errol Spence Jr., who defeated him in his first career loss in March 2019, would not be possible.  

“I think I have great options. I would love to fight Pacquiao or a rematch with Spence. I’d like to continue campaigning at 147,” he said.

His recent win must have encouraged him to think of swapping jabs with the Fighting senator. Manny Pacquiao will be celebrating his 25th year as a prizefighter this year and he has bigger plans like having a rematch with the undefeated Floyd Mayweather Jr. He could be an obstacle to Mikey Garcia’s wish.
