Philnews.ph Mulls Filing A Case Against Kami.com.ph

KAMI – Philnews.ph website is thinking about filing a case against Kami.com.ph over the “Fact Check” issue between the sites.

Recently, an issue involving three (3) websites – Philnews.ph, Kami.com.ph, and Rappler, has crossed the surface. It was over the “Fact Check” articles that the two (2) websites did on a Philnews.ph article.

The said Philnews article was entitled “#WalangPasok: March 2, 7, & 31, 2020 Declared as Special Non-Working Holidays“. Written by Jay Nelz, it was published on February 28, 2020.

In the article, it is stated that special non-working holidays were announced in certain areas due to some events. Following the said article hooking netizens on social media, two (2) “Fact Check” articles about it crossed the surface.

One of the said “Fact Check” articles was published in Kami.com.ph. In its article entitled, “March 2,7 & 31 are not declared as national holidays“, Kami tagged the headline of Philnews.ph as “misleading”.

Philnews.ph has already reached out to Kami.com.ph over the issue through an e-mail sent to latter. The website has also explained on its previous statements that WordPress has character limits thus the writer cannot specify all the areas covered by the suspension in the title.

Meanwhile, the writer from Philnews.ph made sure that the areas covered by the central point of the article are packed in the content. Even in the slightest extent, he did not intend to mislead the readers as responsible reading requires getting all the information and what he offered was a total package.

Currently, Kami.com.ph has yet to respond to the e-mail sent to them over the “Fact Check” issue. Philnews.ph is thinking about filing a case against Kami.com.ph. It has also reached out to Rappler over the matter and a response has arrived.
