Police Say Security Firm That Employed Hostage-Taker in Greenhills Could Lose License to Operate
GREENHILLS – On Tuesday, the authorities said the security firm that employed the hostage-taker in Greenhills could lose its license to operate.
The suspect of the hostage crisis in Greenhills on Monday, March 2, was arrested after 9 hours of negotiation. The fired security guard named Archie Paray held at least 30 hostages and shot one of the security guards.
Around 8 pm, mayor Francis Zamora went inside the mall to convince the suspect to surrender peacefully. Later on, the former security guard went out with the medics and security guards.
The fired security guard decided to hostage the employees of the mall to express his resentment to the alleged unfair treatment and corruption in SASCOR Armor Security Agency. All of his hostages were not harmed after 9 hours of negotiation.
Based on a report from GMA News, the authorities said the security agency of the suspect could lose its license to operate. The spokesperson of the Philippine National Police (PNP), Police Brigadier Bernard Banac said the Supervisory Office of Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) will question the agency of the hostage-taker after he was found that he had no license.
“Kaagad na ipapatawag ito sa ating PNP-SOSIA. Sila po ay magpapaliwanag bakit nagkaroon ng security guard sa kanilang ahensya na walang lisensya,” said Banac.
According to the report, Bernard Banac also said the authorities will also ask the agency about its administrative actions considering Archie Paray’s grievances. “Maari itong umabot sa cancellation, revocation ng kanilang license to operate,” he said.
Francis Zamora said the suspect hostage the employees of the mall to be able to express his sentiments against his security firm.
“Ang layunin niya talaga mailahad niya ‘yung kanyang saloobin. Talagang punong-puno siya ng sama ng loob. Gusto niyang malaman ng lahat na ginagawa niya lang ang kanyang trabaho,” said Zamora.
