“Everybody is accounted for. All of them did not develop any symptoms. Therefore, we could safely assure that they are all healthy as of today,”

Seventeen of the tourists already returned home from on various flights while eight of them remained in Cebu and are under home quarantine or placed themselves in self-quarantine with local health workers with staff from the Regional Epidemiology Surveillance Unit (Resu), Philippine National Police and the Provincial Health Office (PHO) who are observing their condition.

The Philippines placed a ban on tourists from the Daegu City in the province of North Gyeongsang on February 26 due to the high number of cases of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the seven travelers who were said to be missing was found in hotels and residences far from the city. Among those were two who tried to evade detection by moving from one hotel to the other.

“They went into hiding so they wouldn’t be found. They just stayed in their hotel room. Actually, they could not go sightseeing since they were afraid they’d be arrested,”

As per the report, Bernadas were found with the aid of the local government units, the Bureau of Immigration, the Bureau of Quarantine, and hotel and resort operators.

One of them flew to Central Luzon and was quarantined there.

Meanwhile, the quarantined eight are willing to cooperate. They will be observed for symptoms of COVID-19.

Among the eight were six who have families in Cebu.

Bernadas said that once they will be cleared after 14 days, they are free to go.
