2 More Japan Cruise Ship Passengers Under Quarantine Show Coronavirus Symptoms – DOH

DOH – The Department of Health revealed that two (2) more repatriates from the Japan cruise ship showed coronavirus symptoms.

One of the biggest global concerns that came with 2020 is the novel coronavirus. It emerged in China in December 2019. The said disease was first recorded in Wuhan City which is now under a lock-down.

More than 60,000 people were infected by the coronavirus in China and at least 1,200 died of the disease. To curb its spread, several countries have implemented travel bans.

Quarantines were also conducted. A Diamond Princess cruise ship that docked in Japan was also quarantined after one of its passengers tested positive for the disease.

However, the coronavirus cases in the said Japan cruise ship continued to increase. The passengers and crews infected by the disease were brought to local hospitals in Japan.

There are Filipinos in the said Japan cruise ship. Those who tested negative for the disease were already repatriated to the Philippines. They were brought to New Clark City in Tarlac for another 14-day quarantine.

Previously, the Department of Health revealed that three (3) repatriates from Japan showed symptoms. Two (2) suffered from sore throat while the other one has unproductive cough.

An update recently crossed the surface. Based on a report on GMA News, the DOH revealed that two (2) more repatriates from Japan cruise ship are now showing coronavirus symptoms. Meanwhile, there is still no confirmation as the results of their specimens have yet to arrive.

According to Health Secretary Francisco Duque, the repatriates have sore throat. They were already brought to the facility designed to treat coronavirus cases.

Based on the report, with regards to the three (3) repatriates that first showed symptoms, two (2) of them already tested negative for coronavirus. The results of the other one is still awaited.

According to Duque, in case one of them will test positive for the disease, it will still be considered as important transmission. There are a total of 445 Pinoys who came from Japan.
