Birds Of Prey Actress Proud Of Her Pinoy Roots

BIRDS OF PREY – Korean-Filipino actress Ella Jay Basco gave a shoutout to her Philippine heritage. She is best known for her work in the latest DC film ‘Birds of Prey’ with Margot Robbie.

Aside from boxing and beauty pageants, the Philippines is also known for its talented people. There have been lots of actors and actresses who made it to Hollywood.

Among the famous names in Hollywood who have “dugong Filipino” include Hailee Steinfeld, Vanessa Hudgens, Nicole Scherzinger, Shay Mitchell, and Bruno Mars. Recently, a young Filipina-Korean starred in a DC Film titled “Birds of Prey.”

The 13-year-old girl named Ella Jay Basco was among the cast of “Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)” starred by Margot Robbie, Jurnee Smollet-Bell, Rosie Perez, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She plays the role of an orphan thief named Cassandra Cain. She’s part of Harley Quinn’s (played by Robbie) all-girl squad.

Based on a report from ABANTE, Ella is the niece of the Filipino-American actors Dante and Dion Basco. Dante played the role of Rufino in the 1991 Steven Spielberg film “Hook” while Dion starred in the movie “Race The Sun” in 1996.

Brothers Dante and Dion became known in Hollywood after producing several independent films. Ella Jay Basco has appeared in several tv shows in America such as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Happyland,” “Veep,” “Teachers,” and “Superior Donuts.”

Last week, the young actress Tweeted saying her latest movie is for the Philippines. She also said her grandfather is from Pangasinan while her grandmother is from Zambales.

“This movie is for you Philippines! My Grandpa is from Pangasinan and my Grandma is from Zambales,” she wrote.
